AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 3 SECTION 7.1 OF THE

exemption is not automatic but must be applied for. The applicat
must be accompanied by copies of the previous calendar year's
Federal Income Tax returns. The deferment may be applied for at
any time during the year by each qualified citizen, but not later
than Aug. 1 of the current tax year. Each application shall be
presented to the Borough Assembly for approval and must receive an i
affirmative vote from all of the Assembly members present before
the deferment is granted. Any citizen whose property is listed on
the foreclosure list at the time this ordinance becomes effective
and would be qualified for deferment under the terms hereof as to
age, income and residency at the time the taxes became due shall be
(included, provided that the application and documentation is pre-
sented for consideration by the Assembly within sixty (60) days
after this ordinance becomes effective. All taxes deferred under
this provision shall remain as a lien upon the property and shall
become due and payable upon transfer of the property or upon death
lof the senior citizen to whom the deferment was granted.
