FY1965-10 Zoning Ordinance for U.S. Survey 3218KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
ORDINANCE NUMBER 65- 10
WHEREAS, Section 07.15.340, Alaska Statutes, empowers
the BOROUGH to enact a zoning ordinance and provide for its admin-
istration and enforcement, and amendments; and,
WHEREAS, the KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH has pursuant thereto
adopted Ordinance No. 64 -5, and,
WHEREAS, Section 23 of Ordinance No. 64 -5 provides that
the BOROUGH ASSEMBLY may by ordinance amend, supplement, modify,
repeal or otherwise change the zoning regulations and boundaries
of districts, and,
WHEREAS, according to the compahensive plan adopted by
the KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH, U.S. Survey No. 3218 is zoned as a
conservation zone under Section 3, page 3, of Ordinance No. 64 -5,
a classification which permits generally agricultural and horti-
culteral uses and causes the minimum lot area to be five (5) acre
and,
WHEREAS, the KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH has been petitioned by
the GREAT NORTHERN LAND COMPANY for a reclassification of the
above - described property from conservation to residential unclassi
ied, and, pursuant to said Petition, the PLANNING fi ZONING COMMIS
ION has recommended to the BOROUGH ASSEMBLY the change in zoning
from conservation to residential unclassified, and,
WHEREAS, from the facts presented and by the findings of
the recommendation of the PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION, it is
determined that the public necessity, convenience, general welfar
and good zoning practice requires the change,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the BOROUGH ASSEMBLY of the
KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH, that U.S. Survey No. 3218 now classified
as conservation zoned, be and the same is hereby classified resid-
ential unclassified, and that notice of public hearing be given of
this request for reclassification by publication in the Kodiak
Mirror one (1) week prior to the second reading of this ordinance,
and that public hearing be held thereon on that date, and that
publication of this ordinance shall be made by posting a copy
hereof on the Borough Assembly Bulletin Board for a period of
ten (10) days following its passage and approval.
