10 AN ORDINANCE OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
11 AMENDING CHAPTER 3.60 MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION TAX SECTION 3.60.020
12 ALLOCATION

14 WHEREAS, under the provisions of AS 28.10.431(f) the Kodiak Island Borough is
15 required to allocate the money received for motor vehicle registration tax for city, area
16 outside the city and service area purposes within the borough; and
17
18 WHEREAS, the Assembly recognizes an ongoing concern with junk and derelict vehicles
19 within the Kodiak Island Borough that are both abandoned and improperly stored; and
20
21 WHEREAS, the Assembly desires to change the current allocation of money received
22 from the "area wide school system" to a split allocation between "general obligation bond
23 debt payments" and"junk removal services (430.145).

25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
26 BOROUGH THAT:

28 Section 1: This ordinance is of a general and permanent nature and shall become a part of
29 the Kodiak Island Borough Code of Ordinances.

31 Section 2: That section 3.60.20 Allocation of the Kodiak Island Borough Code of
32 Ordinances is amended to read as follows:

34 3.60.020 Allocation.
35 The use of the motor vehicle registration tax is allocated to the ^•^^ vVide ^^h^^' system
36 school general obligation bond debt payments and a iunk car removal program. Specific
37 allocation of funds will be determined during the annual budget process.

39 Effective Date: This ordinance takes effect upon adoption. (Note: KIBC 2.30.070 states an
40 ordinance takes effect upon adoption or at a later date specified in the ordinance.)
